Generoasta is inspired by The Woodland’s annual wide-ranging support of over 9000
families. The Woodlands is a nonprofit human service organization dedicated to serving
and enriching the lives of children and adults with disability and chronic illness.
Woodlands offers beneficial programs and activities to our friends, neighbors, and
community. Their BLOOM program is a program for both adolescents with and without
disabilities, focusing on social, communication, and leadership skills. Adolescents with
disabilities are each paired with a peer without a disability and together they cultivate
friendshiops, work on social skills and enhance their understanding and acceptance of
indivuals with varying backgrounds and abilities.
We hope you’ll stop in at Generoasta to enjoy a cup of coffee and learn more about The
Woodlands and how you can become involved. We think you will be inspired too!
Who We Are...
The Woodlands work is designed to strengthen and support individuals and groups in five
main areas: socialization, recreation, environment, culture and spirituality. Activities are
held year-round at the beautiful, 32 acre, fully accessible campus in the northern suburb
of Bradford Woods, Pennsylvania. Our signature programs focus on art, music, nature,
recreation and fitness, and transitional living.
Over the past decade, the Woodlands has served over 60,000 participants through its
diverse programs. The breadth of opportunity for participants at the Woodlands has
increased significantly, and our facilities have been greatly enhanced to meet the needs of
those we serve. Multiple new construction projects have added permanent housing and
program facilities, an aquatics center, and a state-of-the-art adaptive fitness and wellness
center. We continue to work each day to achieve our goal of distinguishing the
Woodlands as the most outstanding location and provider of the types of services we
offer in western Pennsylvania.
Today, the Woodlands’ serves over 9,000 participants annually in either residential or
non-residential programs and partners with agencies and organizations to host camps,
retreats, and other programming. By continuously fostering new relationships with
organizations that serve individuals with special needs, and developing its facilities and
programming, the Woodlands is forward-focused in its mission of enriching the lives of
children and adults with disability and chronic illness.
